So if you haven't figured it out yet, we like Apple Computers around here. However, every now an then I have to talk with PC vendors to get a few things accomplished. Luckily however, in this case it is not directly related to buying a Microsoft product. No... this time it has to do with some Sonicwall gear. See, today our newish cable internet connection dropped. After about 10 min. of nothing I decided to try and switch using our current fail over device... me. So I set about the task of switching to the DSL line... after an hour of fumbling around, working with a crappy DSL connection, rerunning wires, etc... the cable line came back up and has been running flawless ever since. So basically, this failover method, pushed me to call Dell and begin pricing out automated failover so we don't rely on manual all the time.... cuz manual sucks!!! Below are some pictures of my adventures in our distribution frame (can't wait until Bob and I tackle that!!!!).... So my time with Dell today was spent going through what it would take to drop a Sonicwall Pro 2040 in here to take care of failover AND a whole host of things. Thanks to Brett over at Christian Life Center for the recommendation.... all signs point to a great product with great support!!!
